Charli XCX is heading into horror territory. The pop star is set to appear alongside 'Supergirl' actor Milly Alcock in a new slasher film from legendary Japanese director Takashi Miike.
The untitled project is scheduled to begin filming in Japan next month, according to Deadline. The film marks Miike's return to the horror genre that made him a cult favourite, thanks to intense classics like 'Audition' and 'Ichi the Killer.'
About Charli XCX And Milly Alcock's Horror Movie
In the movie, Charli XCX will play a character named Katie, who travels to Kyoto to reunite with two old friends. What starts as a simple trip quickly turns dark when she becomes possessed by a violent and nightmarish spirit. The cast also includes Norman Reedus, Kiko Mizuhara and Show Kasamatsu.

Charli confirmed the news herself on X, sharing how excited she is to both produce and act in the film. She said working with Takashi Miike feels like a dream come true. She also revealed that they first met in 2024 and began developing ideas together, adding that she cannot wait to fully dive into his creative world.
The horror film is just the latest step in Charli's growing career in movies. Her satirical mockumentary 'The Moment,' inspired by the frenzy of Brat Summer and its tour, arrives in UK cinemas on 20th February. She also created the original soundtrack for Emerald Fennell's 'Wuthering Heights,' which releases on 13th February.

Charli XCX's Other Projects
In addition, Charli XCX appears in Julia Jackman's period fantasy '100 Nights of Hero' and has several other projects on the way, including the indie drama 'Erupcja' and the satirical thriller 'Sacrifice.' She is also set to star opposite Natalie Portman in 'The Gallerist' and appear in 'I Want Your S*x' with Olivia Wilde.
