Charli XCX has begun sharing her film-watching habits with fans on TikTok, offering personal reflections on everything from cult classics to fashion documentaries. The singer, who recently released the album ‘Brat’, first posted a video earlier this month where she walked viewers through a range of titles she had recently watched. These included M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Happening’, ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy’, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s controversial ‘Salò’, and Robert Bresson’s French New Wave work ‘Mouchette’.

She mentioned that she has been keeping track of her viewing on Letterboxd, revealing her personal account to fans so they could follow along with her updates.

In a follow-up post, Charli offered another roundup of her recent favourites. She mentioned watching Danny Boyle’s newly released ‘28 Years Later’, the long-awaited sequel to ‘28 Days Later’, saying that she had managed to fit in a screening between soundcheck and her performance at Dua Lipa’s show. She expressed excitement about Boyle’s return, reportedly saying he was “back”.

She also spoke about rewatching Sofia Coppola’s ‘The Bling Ring’ for the fourth time, commenting that it felt more culturally relevant with each viewing. She compared the film to reading a salacious gossip magazine, suggesting that this was likely the intention behind it.

Charli touched on another Robert Bresson film, ‘Au Hasard Balthazar’ (1966), saying it had moved her to tears. Her standout film of the month, however, was Douglas Keeve’s 1995 documentary ‘Unzipped’, which follows designer Isaac Mizrahi as he develops his fall 1994 collection. She recommended it to fashion lovers, pointing out how it captures the highs and lows of the creative process — from inspiration and self-doubt to vulnerability and eventual triumph.

She also highlighted ‘Part of the Weekend Never Dies’, a 2008 documentary by Soulwax. Charli noted that it was an enjoyable watch for anyone who appreciates party culture, especially from a pre-social media era when people were immersed in the moment rather than documenting it on their phones.

Charli is currently preparing to headline the Other Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday night (28 June). She recently curated a day at the LIDO Festival in London’s Victoria Park, with a line-up that included The Japanese House, The Dare, 070 Shake, Kelly Lee Owens and A. G. Cook. She has also collaborated with Converse on a new ‘Party Girl’ shoe design.
