Conan Gray has unveiled plans for his fourth studio album, ‘Wishbone’, scheduled for release on August 15. Serving as the follow-up to his 2024 album ‘Found Heaven’, the new record is now available for pre-order and pre-save. The album’s lead single, titled ‘This Song,’ is scheduled to arrive this Friday, May 30.

The singer shared the news via Instagram, revealing that the songs for Wishbone were written over the past two years during his time on tour and in the quiet hours after shows. He explained that he often wrote in private, creating music he felt no one else would want to hear—or that he himself might not want to share.

Initially, Gray kept the material hidden from both his friends and his label, unsure if he would release it at all. But over time, his connection to the songs deepened. He found himself returning to them during moments of heartbreak and happiness—listening in airports, taxi rides, and while showering. Eventually, he began sharing the tracks with friends, who also formed emotional ties to the music, listening to it during late-night subway rides or summer drives with the windows down.

Gray then brought the songs to his longtime collaborator Daniel Nigro, and together they began crafting the album. Reflecting on the creative process, Gray said the music helped reconnect him with his identity during a period of personal uncertainty in his twenties. He spoke of drawing inspiration from his childhood in Texas, his summers in London, and the small details of his life—like his striped bed sheets from his college years.

All the songs on Wishbone were written by Gray, often while lounging in his pajamas and composing from his bed. The album’s production was led by a team comprising Daniel Nigro, Ethan Gruska, Noah Conrad, Elvira Anderfjärd, and Luka Kloser.

Though he kept much of the creative journey to himself, Gray noted that he plans to express more through the music itself. He ended his announcement with a reflective note, stating that "a wishbone never breaks evenly."

To build anticipation for the upcoming single, Gray has already released a teaser clip for “This Song,” featuring cinematic visuals of him driving along country roads with sweeping strings in the background.
