Daniel Day‑Lewis and Yorgos Lanthimos headline the Screen Talks series at the 69th BFI London Film Festival, engaging audiences with firsthand insight into their creative worlds.

Some of the most renowned personalities in cinema will walk the red carpet, this year, during the 69th BFI London Film Festival, scheduled from 8th to 19th October. Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, whose creative storytelling continues to push limits, and the iconic actor Daniel Day-Lewis, making one of his rare public appearances, are among the lineup of Screen Talks, intimate and enlightening conversations featuring masters of the profession. They promise an in-depth exploration of artistry, innovation, and the development of filmmaking, joining a distinguished cast that includes Richard Linklater, Jafar Panahi, Chloé Zhao, Lynne Ramsay, and Tessa Thompson.

Rare Reappearances & Creative Mavericks

The only actor to win three Best Actor Oscars, Daniel Day-Lewis, is back in the spotlight for the Screen Talks, providing a unique chance to hear from one of the most renowned actors in film. He played iconic parts in 'Lincoln,' 'Phantom Thread,' and 'There Will Be Blood' during his illustrious career.

Similar to this, Yorgos Lanthimos, a leading figure in modern surrealism since his 2009 breakthrough 'Dogtooth,' enters the lineup after his most recent works, which include 'Poor Things' and 'Kinds of Kindness.' With his distinct cinematic style, Lanthimos continues to reinvent genre and satire.

The Screen Talks will provide viewers a special opportunity to interact with these movie icons up close. An in-depth examination of the artists' difficulties, creative processes, and the development of their work is promised in every session.

This year's Screen Talks series spans the globe and the breadth of cinema itself. Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi will be sharing insights from a career characterized by both artistic success and political hardship, while Richard Linklater contributes decades of genre-defying cinema, from 'Dazed and Confused' to 'Boyhood' and the Before trilogy.

Actress-turned-powerhouse Tessa Thompson and acclaimed filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, known for her unique visual language in films like 'We Need to Talk About Kevin,' are also included. The lineup is completed by Oscar-winning Chloé Zhao, who contributes her storytelling style blended with documentaries from movies such as 'Nomadland.'
