The upcoming James Bond video game '007: First Light' has been delayed slightly and will now arrive in May 2026.
The game was originally scheduled to launch on 27th March 2026, but developer IO Interactive has pushed the release date to 27th May. According to studio head Hakan Abrak, the game is already playable from start to finish, but the extra two months will give the team more time to polish and fine-tune the experience so it launches in the best possible shape.
Why '007: First Light' Got Delayed?
Abrak said the team believes this decision will help set the game up for long-term success and thanked fans for their patience and support since the project was first revealed. IO Interactive also described '007: First Light' as its most ambitious project yet, with a strong focus on delivering a true James Bond experience filled with action, global locations, spy gadgets, high-speed car chases, and classic espionage elements.

As an independent developer and publisher, the studio said the delay allows them to meet the quality standards players expect on day one.
'007: First Light' is the First New Video Game
'007: First Light' marks the first new James Bond game since 2012's '007 Legends'. The story follows a young James Bond, played by Patrick Gibson, as he takes on dangerous missions in hopes of earning his license to kill. The game begins with Bond as a Navy air crewman whose bravery leads him into MI6's intense training program, where his instincts, intelligence, and determination shape him into a full-fledged spy.
The cast includes Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, and Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny. Several new characters will also appear, including Miss Roth, played by Noemie Nakia, and Bond’s mentor John Greenway, portrayed by Lennie James.
