Gracie Abrams Calls Taylor Swift “A Safe Place” and Reflects on First Meeting

Gracie Abrams recently opened up about her profound connection with Taylor Swift, revealing that their first meeting felt as though they had known each other for years. Discussing her experience in a recent interview, Abrams described how meeting Swift felt familiar, attributing this sensation to the deep impact Swift’s voice has had on her life.

“When I met [Swift], it kind of felt like we had known each other already, which I’m sure there was an element of just like the parasocial relationship thing,” Abrams shared with The Sunday Times. “I’ve grown up with her voice in my headphones my entire life.”

Abrams, who views Swift as both a friend and a mentor, expressed how Swift has been a comforting presence in her life. “She’s a safe place to land any time I’ve ever had any questions about anything,” Abrams noted. Beyond professional advice, Swift has also helped Abrams manage physical discomfort from touring, recommending an acupressure mat that proved to be highly beneficial.

Although Abrams had initially not expected to be part of ‘Swift’s Eras Tour’, she had the opportunity to open for Swift during the North American leg of the tour. Their professional relationship extended to a memorable on-stage collaboration in Cincinnati when Abrams’ set was cancelled due to inclement weather. They reunited for another performance during Swift’s London concert later in the tour.

“Being a part of that tour in a tiny way has changed the course of my life in so many ways,” Abrams said. “She’s just the most unbelievable performer and the most generous friend … It’s not lost on me that her belief in me has really just…done a lot. So, I’m deeply grateful to her, forever.”
