Gwyneth Paltrow Thought Timothée Chalamet's 'Marty Supreme' Makeup Was Real—and Offered Skincare Advice

Gwyneth Paltrow accidentally offered Timothée Chalamet skincare advice on the set of 'Marty Supreme'—without realising she was reacting to his movie makeup.

During the recent episode of 'The Run-Through with Vogue' podcast, the 53-year-old Goop founder shared the hilarious moment and explained that she has always been interested in taking on roles that require physical transformation. While filming 'Marty Supreme,' she was fascinated by Chalamet's dramatic look for the film: prosthetic pockmarks, beady eyes created with special contacts, and glasses that altered his appearance.

Since Gwyneth Paltrow had never experienced that level of facial transformation on screen, she was impressed by how convincing his makeup was.

Gwyneth Paltrow's Advice to Timothée Chalamet 

What she didn't realise, at least initially, was that all of Chalamet's "flaws" were part of the character. Believing his on-set look was real, Paltrow casually suggested a treatment to help him.  Timothée Chalamet then informed her that the texture on his face was all makeup, leading to an amusing moment between the two costars. She admitted she was caught off guard because the makeup team created effects so realistic that she mistook them for actual acne scarring.

Gwyneth Paltrow added that in reality, 'Dune' actor Timothée Chalamet has exceptionally clear skin—something she noticed immediately once she saw him without the prosthetics.

The actress also reacted to renewed attention around her earlier comments in British Vogue, where she revealed she didn't know Chalamet was dating Kylie Jenner when he mentioned his girlfriend had two children. When asked how her own children responded to that admission, Paltrow joked that Apple and Moses don't read her interviews and usually tease her for being out of the loop on celebrity gossip.
