Haim have unveiled a brand-new single, ‘Take Me Back’, offering another preview of their forthcoming fourth studio album, I Quit, which arrives on June 20 via Polydor. The track follows earlier releases from the album, including ‘Relationships’, ‘Everybody’s Trying To Figure Me Out’, and ‘Down To Be Wrong’.
Danielle Haim shared that the song originated in her home studio using GarageBand, and came together quickly thanks to a repeating refrain that resonated: “Take me back, take me back.” She described the creative period as nostalgic for the band, since all three sisters found themselves single for the first time since high school and spent more time together socially.
Once the chorus was written, producer Rostam Batmanglij joined the process, and the song evolved naturally. Tobias Jesso Jr. later joined them in the studio, and the team began swapping personal stories from their teenage years—many of which inspired the lyrics. Danielle mentioned that while the stories are true, the names were changed.

She also credited the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where the sisters studied, and praised Batmanglij for shaping the song’s sound. Reflecting on the project, Danielle said her teenage self wouldn’t have imagined making music like this, and the realization makes her emotional.
Musically, ‘Take Me Back’ draws on blues influences and carries a vibrant energy, with lyrics that reminisce about youthful freedom and the desire to relive those moments. Haim recently performed in Los Angeles, debuting another new song, ‘Blood On The Street’, with a guest appearance by Addison Rae.
