Halo Infinite’s New Co-Op Releases on 5th December

Firefight is gearing up to make its grand entrance into ‘Halo Infinite’ with the December update, set to hit screens on 5th December. This time, it comes in the form of ‘Firefight: King of the Hill,’ bringing a new twist to the classic PvE survival mode that fans of the franchise have come to love.

In a recent blog post on Halo Waypoint, Connor Kennelly, the technical designer, spilled the beans on what to expect from the all-new ‘Firefight: King of the Hill’ mode, highlighting the distinctions from its classic predecessor. Picture this: matchmaking for up to four players in cooperative play, with a single goal in mind – capturing the coveted Hill, a challenge not only against the waves of enemies but against the campaign foes vying for control.

To secure victory, players must capture the hill and conquer the boss wave, with matches organized in five intense rounds. The winning team must clinch at least three rounds to emerge victorious. A setback occurs if the enemies snatch the hill or if the entire team faces defeat. Forget the shared life pool; the new mode introduces a prolonged respawn timer, offering the chance to revive teammates at the risk of peril. Traditionalists need not fret; the classic life pool is still available for custom games.

Between rounds, players get a breather to replenish ammo, grab new weapons and prepare for the next challenge as a new hill emerges in a fresh location. Kennelly assures that each match will wrap up in a digestible timeframe, estimating between 15 to 20 minutes for completion, although there’s no official timer in play.

The return of Skulls adds an extra layer of excitement. A “semi-random” Skull joins the fray at the end of a victorious round without casualties, initiating a streak. With each subsequent deathless triumph, new Skulls join the lineup, starting with the milder ones like Fog, which slyly disables the radar, before escalating to the more formidable challenges. Watch out, though – one misstep and the most recent Skull gets deactivated.

The roster includes familiar names like Behemoth, Deadlock, Launch Site, Live Fire, Oasis, Exiled, Kusini Bay and Vallaheim.
