The film, which uses real-life audio recordings as its emotional anchor, depicts the horrific last moments of a child trapped in the horrors of war and is based on the tragic true story of six-year-old Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl.
The Real Voice Behind the Story
Six-year-old Hind Rajab was killed by Israeli bombardment in February 2024 while she and her family were hiding in a car in Gaza City. Her death became a symbol of unfathomable grief. Hind was the only person left in the car after her family members were shot. Alone and terrified, she pleaded with Palestinian Red Crescent emergency personnel to "come take me, I'm terrified. Come, please."

The call went on for about three hours. She tried to remain composed while recounting the lifeless remains of her family members and wondering if rescuers would be arriving. Sadly, Hind was killed along with the rescue crew that had been dispatched to save her when their ambulance was also hit. These taped conversations went viral and shocked viewers around the world, placing a child's voice at the center of the global headlines.

Director Kaouther Ben Hania claimed that when she heard Hind's voice, she had the drive to take actions right away. She said, "The ground moved beneath me." " I knew this had to become a film." Instead of utilizing violence or melodrama, she carefully re-enacts the incident, putting Hind's actual voice at the center and emphasizing the tragedy through quiet and suspense.
From Tragedy to Venice Spotlight
With support from Plan B (Brad Pitt's company), Film4, MBC Studios, and other foreign producers, the film's development has advanced quickly. Raising awareness of the civilian cost of contemporary combat is just as important as achieving cinematic recognition. The project gains a lot of weight from the participation of well-known names from around the world, particularly in anticipation of its world premiere in Venice on 3rd September.
