Euphoria star Hunter Schafer is reportedly being considered for a major role in the upcoming live-action adaptation of ‘The Legend of Zelda’. Industry insider Daniel Richtman has reported that Hunter Schafer is being considered for the role of Princess Zelda. The report appeared in Richtman’s blog, which is behind a paywall, but claims she is a strong contender for the role.
Though no official casting announcements have been made yet, Schafer’s potential involvement wouldn’t come as a surprise. Long before the film was formally revealed in 2023, fans had already been fan-casting her in the role. Schafer acknowledged the speculation at the time and said that taking on the character would be “so cool.” She also shared that she’s a longtime fan of the game, having played it as a child and still enjoying it today.

‘Zelda’ Film Gains Traction as Schafer Juggles ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
Momentum for the Zelda project picked up earlier this year when a release date was confirmed—March 26, 2027. The film is being produced by Zelda series creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad, known for his work on the Spider-Man franchise. Wes Ball, director of The Maze Runner trilogy and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is set to direct.
In the meantime, Schafer is filming Season 3 of Euphoria, alongside Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi. While HBO has yet to confirm an official release date, the season is expected to arrive in early 2026. Sweeney recently called it the most chaotic season yet. Spanish singer Rosalía is also joining the cast, calling her acting debut in the series “really inspiring.”
