RM has publicly responded to criticism following remarks in a recent livestream where he candidly admitted that BTS had previously considered splitting up during their hiatus. In a heartfelt apology posted on WeVerse on 8th December, he expressed remorse for the emotional distress the comments caused many fans, acknowledging that the livestream may have "tired" ARMY members and that he deeply regrets having broadcast it in that moment.
In addition to the apology, RM provided fans with some personal updates, such as finishing his home renovation and getting ready for a driving test, revealing a more vulnerable, human side of himself at a sensitive moment for the group.
When Off-Hand Talk About Disbandment Sparked A Wave Of Concern
In a livestream in late November 2025, when fans were anticipating news regarding the group's future, RM candidly discussed the challenges the members had endured during BTS's extended break. He disclosed that there were "moments" during which the group gave serious thought to disbanding. Though the tone during the stream was relaxed—and included a bit of joking banter with fellow member Jimin—the remark about disbanding triggered wide alarm among fans globally, many of whom felt blindsided by such candid admissions.

The fallout shifted quickly. Fans reacted amazement, concern, and even rage on social media and in fan forums, worrying not just about the group's future but also about the emotional toll on both BTS and ARMY. Some called the comment "disrespectful," while others feared it signalled instability within the group.
RM's Apology And A Peek Into Real Life
On 8th December, RM shared a lengthy message on WeVerse along with a picture of himself creating a heart, which fans generally interpret as a sign of love and reconciliation. In it, he wrote: "I think I may have made a lot of ARMYs feel tired…I'm really sorry." He admitted that he had been frustrated at the time of the livestream and regretted turning it on. In addition to the apologies, RM provided comforting, everyday updates: he's planning to take up his driving test soon, and in a recent practice run he drove through all four courses—"scary but didn't crash," he wrote. He also disclosed that he has been working on content ideas, music, and dance. On a more lighthearted note, he talked about watching a movie and completing the inside remodeling of his house, promising fans a "surprise reveal" shortly after everything has been completed.
The general tone was one of openness, humility, and a willingness to go forward—not only for himself, but also for the band and their supporters.

Hope On The Horizon: BTS Plans Full-Group Comeback In 2026
Amid all the tension, RM's apology came with a reminder that BTS isn't done yet. The group's full comeback is reportedly scheduled for March 2026, when they'll begin working on their next album. Recordings, picture sessions, and the creation of music videos are among the scheduled activities. RM admitted that the pressure has been intense, to the point that he had considered breaking up "thousands of times."

Nevertheless, he maintained that love—both from fans and among members—is what keeps them united. RM promised everyone that their return would be genuine, heartfelt, and worth the wait, even though it might not happen right away and might not look exactly like what fans anticipate. For now, RM's message seems clear: "We're sorry for the worry. We're working hard. And we'll be back." The apology may have closed one chapter—but the next one, for BTS and ARMY, begins soon.
