About 'Alita: Battle Angel'

Since debuting in 2019, 'Alita: Battle Angel' has earned more than $404 million globally and maintains a strong 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The story follows Alita—played by Rosa Salazar—a cyborg with a human brain who awakens with no memory of her past and begins to uncover her true identity under the care of Dr Dyson Ido, portrayed by Christoph Waltz. Director Robert Rodriguez previously noted that Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox created uncertainty around the sequel’s future, but the recent update suggests the project is gaining momentum.

Outside of the Avatar universe, he was previously connected to a remake of 'Fantastic Voyage,' though director Roland Emmerich stated in 2024 that the collaboration became difficult due to Cameron's reportedly demanding creative standards.
