Jennifer Lawrence says her feelings about dogs have completely changed after a frightening incident involving her son.
The actress spoke candidly recently, during a conversation following a screening of her new film 'Die, My Love' at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. The 35-year-old shared that after becoming a mother, she seriously reconsidered having dogs around her children. She even thought about letting her longtime pet dog, Princess Pippi Longstocking, whom she adopted in 2017, live with her parents once she started her family.
Lawrence, who shares two sons with her husband Cooke Maroney—Cy, 3, and a second child born in 2024—admitted that dogs now feel intimidating to her. She explained that she no longer views them the same way and instinctively sees them as a potential danger.

Jennifer Lawrence's Fear of Dogs
Her fear stems from a traumatic experience in which a dog bit her son. The incident deeply shook her and triggered an intense emotional reaction, making her feel extremely protective and wary of dogs in general.
These days, Jennifer Lawrence proudly identifies as a cat person. She spoke fondly about her cat, Fred, describing him as having a hilarious and unpredictable personality. She said cats are often misunderstood and that their unapologetic attitude is actually what makes them so entertaining. According to Lawrence, Fred has a habit of casually entering the room while she and her husband are watching TV, always acting as if his presence is a coincidence.
