Jeremy Allen White is opening up about the challenges of stepping into the shoes of Bruce Springsteen for the upcoming biopic 'Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,' set to premiere on 24th October.

The Emmy-winning actor admitted that he had little to no musical training before taking on the role, which made the task of singing and playing guitar especially intimidating. He revealed on Marc Maron's WTF podcast that preparing to perform as Springsteen in front of the legendary musician himself added to the pressure.

Jeremy Allen White And Tough Vocals

To tackle the demanding vocals, Jeremy Allen White worked with renowned vocal coach Eric Vetro, who has previously trained stars like Austin Butler for Elvis and Timothée Chalamet for the Bob Dylan film. White credited Vetro with helping him discover his own voice while still honouring Springsteen’s iconic sound. Even so, the actor acknowledged that the singing felt like a gamble, particularly when trying to master the phrasing on Springsteen’s haunting 1982 album 'Nebraska,' which serves as the centrepiece of the film.

Jeremy Allen White also shared that at times he became too focused on replicating Springsteen's voice, which prevented him from connecting emotionally to the music. With guidance, he was able to let go of the pressure to sound identical and instead focus on delivering a performance that felt authentic. That shift proved to be a breakthrough in embodying the role.

Bruce Springsteen's Reaction to Jeremy Allen White's Recordings

Springsteen himself reportedly reassured White after hearing one of his early recordings, telling the actor that while he captured the essence of the voice, he was also making the songs his own. For Jeremy Allen White, that validation eased his anxieties and gave him confidence not only in the music but in his entire portrayal of the rock legend.

With 'Deliver Me From Nowhere' set for release this fall, anticipation is building to see how White transforms into Springsteen on screen. The film promises a raw and intimate look at a pivotal moment in the Boss's career—and for Jeremy Allen White, it marks one of the most challenging and rewarding performances of his career.
