Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman have officially launched their awards season with a major honour for their new musical film, 'Song Sung Blue.'
The pair appeared together at the 2025 Gotham Awards in New York City recently, where they accepted the show's first-ever Gotham Musical Tribute. The award recognises their performances as Mike and Claire Sardina, a married couple who built a Neil Diamond tribute act called 'Lightning & Thunder' in the 1980s.
Before the ceremony, Hudson and Jackman spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about the biggest lessons they took away from working together on the film.

Life Lessons of Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman
Kate Hudson shared that Jackman's greatest strength is his ability to connect with everyone around him—whether performing, filming, or interacting with people behind the scenes. She said watching him make genuine connections taught her how meaningful it can be to show real interest in others. Hudson also reflected on how much energy Jackman gives to those around him, comparing him to someone constantly offering support and care, even when it requires effort.
Hugh Jackman, in turn, said he gained a deeper understanding of film acting through his partnership with Hudson. Despite his decades of experience, he felt Hudson's balance of meticulous preparation and instinctive creativity pushed him to be better. He also recalled key moments during production when Kate Hudson stood up for certain choices, even when they disrupted schedules. Those moments, he noted, resulted in some of the most essential scenes in the movie, teaching him the value of speaking up thoughtfully and choosing the right moments to advocate for the work.
