Keanu Reeves, much like his character Neo dodging bullets in 'The Matrix,' tends to avoid watching his own films. During a candid discussion at The New Yorker Festival on 26th October—joined by his 'Waiting for Godot' Broadway costar Alex Winter and culture critic Naomi Fry—the actor opened up about how he feels revisiting his past work.
Keanu Reeves Shares on Watching His Own Movies
Reeves shared that he doesn't deliberately sit down to watch any of his old movies. However, when he’s scrolling through channels and notices one of his classics, like 'Point Break,' he sometimes pauses to watch for a moment.
He admitted that if he happens to stumble across 'The Matrix' or 'The Matrix Reloaded,' he might leave them on for a bit, enjoying the nostalgia of those action-packed roles. Still, he emphasised that he never intentionally chooses to watch his own performances.

Alex Winter Talks About Watching His Own Movies
Alex Winter, Keanu Reeves' longtime collaborator and 'Bill & Ted' co-star, echoed the same sentiment. He explained that he rarely watches his previous work because seeing himself on screen feels uncomfortable and disconnected. The only exception, he said, was viewing his most recent film at a special screening in Toronto, where he wanted to observe the live audience reaction.
Keanu Reeves and Winter have recently reunited for the Broadway revival of 'Waiting for Godot,' marking their first major collaboration in 35 years since the 1989 cult hit 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.' In the stage production, Keanu Reeves portrays Estragon while Winter takes on the role of Vladimir, two companions who wait endlessly for a mysterious figure named Godot.
