Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, and SZA Dominate BET Awards 2025

Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, and SZA were big winners at the BET Awards 2025 in Los Angeles. Lamar won 'Album of the Year' for 'GNX' and 'Best Male Hip-hop Artist'. Chris Brown, Future & Metro Boomin, and Leon Thomas also won key awards.

Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, SZA, and several other artists achieved significant wins at the BET Awards 2025, which celebrated its 25th anniversary on Monday night (June 9) at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Kendrick Lamar, who entered the ceremony with a leading ten nominations, secured the 'Album of the Year' award for 'GNX', along with 'Best Male Hip-hop Artist' and 'Best Collaboration'. Doechii, Drake, GloRilla, and Future each received six nominations, while Metro Boomin garnered five, and SZA and The Weeknd had four nominations apiece.

Among the performers at the awards show were Lil Wayne, Teyana Taylor, GloRilla, Playboi Carti, and Leon Thomas. Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, and Kirk Franklin were all honoured with the 'Ultimate Icon' award.

During the ceremony, the late Quincy Jones was paid tribute with a performance featuring Sinners standout Miles Caton, Luke James, and Lucky Daye. Other notable winners at the 2025 BET Awards included SZA for 'Best Female R&B/Pop Artist', Doechii for 'Best Female Hip-hop Artist', and Leon Thomas for 'Best New Artist'.
