Mia Goth has officially joined the cast of Shawn Levy's upcoming 'Star Wars: Starfighter,' where she will star opposite Ryan Gosling. Gosling's long-rumoured involvement was confirmed at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo this April. The film, scheduled to begin production in autumn 2025, is set to debut exclusively in cinemas on 28th May, 2027.
According to Levy, the film is a standalone entry in the ‘Star Wars’ universe, focusing on fresh faces and unfolding in a previously unexplored timeline. He clarified that it was not a prequel or a sequel, but rather a new adventure that broke away from existing narratives.
Gosling, speaking about the script, said it stood out for its emotional depth and originality. He described the story as being filled with heart and adventure, praising Levy as the perfect filmmaker to bring this tale to life.
While earlier reports suggested that Mikey Madison, known for her Oscar-winning role in ‘Anora’, declined a supporting part, it has now been confirmed via Variety that Goth has stepped in as the newest addition to the cast. Details regarding her character remain undisclosed for now. The script has been written by Jonathon Tropper.

Mia Goth's Upcoming High-Profile Projects
Goth is continuing a busy run in high-profile projects. She is set to appear in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of ‘Frankenstein’, starring alongside Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac, as well as in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which features Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, and Robert Pattinson.
Shawn Levy’s previous success with Disney came through Marvel Studios’ ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, which became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, earning $1.33 billion globally.
'The Mandalorian and Grogu' is set to be the next Star Wars film released in cinemas, with a projected release date of May 22, 2026. Although the big screen has remained quiet since 2019’s ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, the franchise has found new life on television, with the finale of ‘Skeleton Crew’ recently earning positive fan feedback.
As for Gosling, he recently produced the horror film ‘Wolf Man’ and will next appear in the sci-fi adaptation ‘Project Hail Mary’, due in 2026. In a recent interview, Saoirse Ronan shared that she was disappointed the two never collaborated on 2009’s ‘The Lovely Bones’, after Gosling was let go from the project.
