Lady Gaga made a dramatic appearance at Netflix’s Tudum event on 31st May to celebrate the announcement of her role in Wednesday season two. The pop icon was revealed to be joining the cast as Rosaline Rotwood, a teacher at Nevermore Academy who will encounter Jenna Ortega’s character in the upcoming installment. Part 1 of the new season is set to premiere on 6th August, with Part 2 following on 3rd September.

Gaga’s casting comes after her 2011 track ‘Bloody Mary’ became the unofficial soundtrack to a viral fan dance inspired by Ortega’s now-iconic scene from season one. The trend gained so much momentum that Gaga herself participated in it, sparking speculation about her future involvement with the show.

During the Tudum event at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, Gaga brought the livestream to a dramatic close. She made her entrance from a coffin marked “Here Lies the Monster Queen” and delivered a spooky medley, joined by dancers dressed as characters from the ‘Wednesday’ series. Her set included performances of ‘Abracadabra’—which featured a brief appearance from Ortega seated at a ghostly banquet table—followed by ‘Zombieboy’ and ‘Bloody Mary’. She also revisited the viral moment by dancing to The Cramps’ ‘Goo Goo Muck’, the track that fuelled the original dance trend.

Jenna Ortega Praises Gaga’s On-Set Presence as Singer Gears Up for Global Tour

Jenna Ortega looked back on her experience working with Lady Gaga, commending her artistic talent and professionalism. She described Gaga as one of the most gifted individuals she had ever worked with and said the filming process felt especially meaningful with both Gaga and director Tim Burton on set. Ortega also noted that despite Gaga’s bold public persona, she found her to be unexpectedly kind, gentle, and generous on set.

Outside of her acting role, Gaga is also preparing for her global ‘MAYHEM Ball’ tour in support of her new album Mayhem. One of the standout events will be a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio, expected to draw over a million fans.
