Lola Young, a rising British singer, caused fans a scare this weekend when she passed out during her performance at the 'All Things Go Festival' in New York. Medical personnel had to remove her off the stage when she stumbled and fell backward while performing her song 'Conceited.'

She provided a comforting statement in the hours that followed, stating that she is "doing OK." However, the incident has raised additional questions regarding her health, her hectic schedule, and how she manages to reconcile her personal well-being with her artistic endeavours.

The Incident & Health Update

Lola Young unexpectedly passed out while singing 'Conceited,' a song from her previous album 'This Wasn't Meant For You Anyway,' on 27th September, at the 'All Things Go Festival' in Forest Hills Stadium in New York. Social media footage shows her body falling backward and her microphone dropping, followed by medical staff racing to help her off stage.

Young told the audience that she had been experiencing a "tricky couple of days" prior to the collapse and that occasionally "life can truly make you feel like you can't go." Following her departure, performer Doechii interrupted her own concert to ask the audience to send love to Lola, presenting the instant support of her fans and fellow musicians.

"Hello, for everybody who attended my act at All Things Go tonight, I am doing OK now," Young wrote in an Instagram Story post after speaking to her audience. "I appreciate all of your help, Lola xxx," she added. Her agents and the festival's organizers have not made any specific medical information available to the public.

Lola's Past Health Struggles

Young has previously been upfront about her health issues, including her journey through mental health issues and her diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder at the age of 17. Furthermore, according to her manager Nick Shymansky, she canceled a planned performance (at the Audacy's We Can Survive concert) "due to a sensitive matter" just one day prior to the festival incident.

She has also acknowledged struggles with addiction and the psychological effects of touring in previous interviews. The difficulties that young artists encounter while balancing rigorous performance schedules and traveling have been brought up again in this incident of Young.

Festival Context & Her Career

New York hosts the 'All Things Go Festival,' a multi-day music event that attracts a wide range of pop, indie, and hip-hop performers. Young's third studio album, 'I'm Only F**king Myself,' was released on 19th September, and her music career was gaining pace at the time of her appearance at the event.

In 2024, her breakthrough single 'Messy' went viral and reached the top of the charts, solidifying her reputation as an emotionally honest and relatable singer. She also experienced a challenging time earlier this year at Coachella, where she begged for a pail after vomiting mid-performance due to heat and anxiety, but she eventually came back to complete the performance. That instance brought to light the difficulties of functioning under pressure, both mentally and physically.

What's Going to be Lola's Next Move?

Despite health difficulties, Young has stated her commitment to her craft and her followers going ahead. She's due to continue promoting 'I'm Only F**king Myself,' and perform on future tour dates (including her UK and European legs).

Her post-collapse speech, in which she thanked her fans and acknowledged their support, highlights the importance of being open and honest with her audience about the difficulties she experiences. Fans hope she takes some time to rest and recover while the music industry keenly observes.
