Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's eldest son is now using a different professional name.
Maddox, 24, recently worked as the third assistant director on his mother's upcoming film 'Couture.' In the movie's credits, he is listed as Maddox Jolie, no longer using Pitt as part of his last name. In Jolie's 2024 film 'Maria,' he was credited as Maddox Jolie-Pitt while working as a production assistant.
Maddox Jolie's Career
Over the years, Maddox has been involved in several of his parents’ projects. He was an executive producer on Jolie's 2017 film 'First They Killed My Father.' He also had a small appearance in Pitt's 2013 film 'World War Z,' although he did not receive an official credit. In 2015, he worked as a trainee on 'By the Sea,' the drama directed by Jolie that starred both of his parents.

'Couture,' directed by Alice Winocour, features Jolie as a filmmaker who learns she has breast cancer during the chaos of Paris Fashion Week. The film also stars Louis Garrel, Anyier Anei and Ella Rumpf.
Other Name Changes in Family
Maddox Jolie is not the only one of the former couple's six children to make a name change. His sister Shiloh Jolie, now 19, legally removed Pitt from her last name when she turned 18 in 2024. Her lawyer explained that she made an independent and important decision following painful events.
Their daughter Vivienne Jolie, 17, was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for the Broadway musical 'The Outsiders,' which she helped produce with her mother. In 2023, Zahara Jolie, now 21, introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when she joined Spelman College's Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, leaving Pitt out of her name.

Jolie and Pitt began their relationship in 2005 after meeting on the set of 'Mr and Mrs Smith.' They married in 2014, but Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 following an alleged incident on a private plane. The FBI later reviewed the matter and closed the investigation in 2022 without filing charges. A child services investigation in 2016 also did not find abuse.
The former couple finalised their divorce in late 2024. At the time, Jolie's lawyer, James Simon, said the settlement was one step in a long process that began eight years earlier and that Jolie felt exhausted but relieved that this part was over.
In a later interview with GQ, Pitt said the divorce finalisation was not a major moment for him, describing it simply as something that had legally come to completion.
