Margot Robbie is opening up about a piece of advice from early in her career that crossed a line and left a lasting impression.

During a fun video interview with musician Charli xcx for Complex, the Australian actress and producer was asked to name the worst gift she had ever received. Her answer came with a surprising story.

Margot Robbie's Bizarre Gift She Received

Margot Robbie, now 35, explained that very early on, a male actor she worked with gave her a book titled 'Why French Women Don't Get Fat.' The message behind the gift was clear to her at the time: it was a not-so-subtle suggestion that she should eat less and lose weight. The book, written by Mireille Guiliano, was first published in 2007.

Her reaction was instant and blunt. She remembers being completely taken aback and thinking the gesture was wildly inappropriate.

The 'Barbie' star added that the gift came so long ago that she has no idea where the actor is now. Charli xcx jokingly chimed in, teasing that his career was probably over.

Looking back, Robbie said the moment made it obvious that the book was meant as a commentary on her body, and the realisation left her stunned.

Robbie currently stars in 'Wuthering Heights,' director Emerald Fennell's new adaptation of the classic Emily Brontë novel, which hits theatres on 13th February. Charli xcx provided original music for the film.

 Charli xcx's Unusual Gift

During the same interview, Charli also shared her own most unusual gift—a small jar containing the ashes of a fan's mother, turned into a necklace—admitting she had no idea what to do with it.

The two also traded picks for the greatest Hollywood heartthrobs of all time, with Charli xcx choosing Jack Nicholson and Margot Robbie naming the late Montgomery Clift.

'Wuthering Heights,' co-starring Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, and more, opens in theatres on 13th  February.
