A Grand Return: Bridgerton's New Chapter Looms

The first poster for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 was officially unveiled by Netflix on 30th September, providing a teaser for what will happen in 2026. In the eye-catching picture, Yerin Ha plays Sophie Baek, a young maid wearing a silver-white gown and clutching a mask behind her back, suggesting a crucial masquerade party at the center of the next season. The caption shared by Netflix reads, "One thing is certain, gentle readers, a masquerade is like no other event. Prepare yourselves, for anything can happen. Bridgerton Season 4 shall debut in 2026."

Netflix and the show's writers have stated that 2026 will be the year that the Bridgerton saga continues, even though no specific release date has been set. The team allegedly had enough time for post-production because the project ended in late June.

From Daphne to Benedict: 'Bridgerton' Through the Seasons

To understand the weight of this upcoming season, a quick look back helps. With the focus on Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and her romance with Simon Basset (Rege-Jean Page), 'Bridgerton' debuted on Netflix in December 2020. Released in March 2022, the second season focused on Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) and Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey). The relationship between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) was most recently examined in Season 3 (May–June 2024). 

Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the family's free-spirited second son who has long resisted falling in love, is the focus of Season 4. When he encounters the "Lady in Silver" at Lady Violet Bridgerton's masquerade ball—a shadowy character who turns out to be Sophie—his story takes off. 

Since Sophie works as a maid for the formidable Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung), her past is connected to her. The Ton's drama is being enhanced by the reappearance of beloved characters including Simone Ashley, Nicola Coughlan, Adjoa Andoh, Golda Rosheuvel, Claudia Jessie, Hugh Sachs, Ruth Gemmell, Florence Hunt, Will Tilston, and Polly Walker. Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei, who play Sophie's stepsisters Rosamund and Posy Li, respectively, are new cast members.

Early teasers and a short preview clip released by Netflix already show Benedict's first encounter with Sophie amid masks and intrigue. With a few minor adjustments, the plot is taken from Julia Quinn's novel 'An Offer from a Gentleman.' To commemorate Yerin Ha's Korean ancestry, Sophie's last name is reinterpreted as Baek.

Fans are already making assumptions about internal twists, social class tensions, and the emotional push-pull that characterizes 'Bridgerton' since the initial poster establishes a tone of mystery, masquerade, and romance.
