Why Michael J. Fox is hoping to find?

Michael J. Fox, now 63, has long held a deep love for rock ‘n’ roll and the guitar in particular. He grew up surrounded by classic rock, inspired by the sounds of bands like Blind Faith and Rare Earth. For Michael J. Fox, playing guitar was more than a hobby—it was a childhood dream, and that passion shaped one of the film’s most iconic moments.

To bring this musical mystery back into the spotlight, Gibson has launched a global campaign, complete with a new call-to-action video featuring Michael J. Fox and fellow ‘Back to the Future’ cast members, including Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and others. The goal? To track down the lost ES-345 and preserve a piece of cinematic—and musical—history.

Thompson, reflecting on the early days of the franchise, revealed that no one anticipated a sequel at the time. Because of this, props weren’t treated with the same care as in modern blockbuster franchises. While she managed to keep her character’s prom dress, shoes, and jewellery, the fate of the guitar remains a mystery.

The film's use of Huey Lewis's popular song ‘The Power of Love’ highlighted how ‘Back to the Future’ has become a cultural icon for younger generations. He believes the missing guitar carries more than monetary value—its story alone makes it priceless. He speculates that someone involved in the production may have taken it, possibly unaware of how significant it would become.
