November is shaping up to be a thrilling month for mystery lovers. While fans eagerly await Daniel Craig's return as Benoit Blanc in 'Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery' later this month, another clever detective is stepping back into the spotlight first. Mischa Barton reprises her role as Miranda Green—a florist with a sharp mind and a passion for Agatha Christie–style sleuthing—in 'Murder at the Embassy,' premiering on 14th November.
As part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event, a new image from the upcoming Lionsgate film shows Barton's character surrounded by ancient Egyptian artefacts, hinting at the exotic and perilous setting of her latest case.
What Does 'Murder at the Embassy' Follow?
A direct sequel to 2023's 'Invitation to a Murder,' 'Murder at the Embassy' picks up immediately after Miranda Green's first big investigation, which made her reputation as an amateur detective. Now, her skills have drawn the attention of the British ambassador to Egypt, who enlists her help in solving a mysterious death within the walls of the British Embassy in Cairo.

What begins as a single murder investigation soon unravels into something far more sinister. Miranda uncovers evidence of a second crime—one that could have devastating global consequences if left unsolved. As suspicion spreads among diplomats and staff alike, she must navigate treacherous secrets, international intrigue, and the haunting allure of Egypt's ancient past to expose the truth.
'Murder at the Embassy' Portrays Egyptian Setting
The film leans heavily into its Egyptian setting, taking viewers from the bustling streets of Cairo to the shadows of the great pyramids. The newly released image teases Miranda among relics of long-forgotten dynasties, including a sarcophagus that may play a key role in her investigation.
Joining Barton in the 'Murder at the Embassy' cast are Mido Hamada, Kojo Attah, Nell Barlow, Raha Rahbari, Antonia Bernath, and Richard Dillane, each playing characters entangled in the film’s layered mystery.

Crew Behind 'Murder at the Embassy'
Returning to direct is Stephen Shimek, who also helmed 'Invitation to a Murder.' The screenplay is written by Mark Brennan, once again combining sharp storytelling with classic whodunit tension. Following the success of the first film, Lionsgate quickly greenlit two more instalments in the Miranda Green mystery series. The next adventure, 'The Mystery of the Golden Spear,' is already in development and promises to take Barton’s detective to yet another exotic location.
With 'Murder at the Embassy,' Barton cements Miranda Green as a modern-day homage to Agatha Christie’s legendary detectives—a fearless, quick-witted heroine solving crimes in the world's most dazzling and dangerous places.
'Murder at the Embassy' arrives on 14th November in theatres, on digital, and on demand.
