Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke Join the Cast of ‘Dune 3’ as Paul Atreides’ Twin Children

Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke will play Paul Atreides’ twin children in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming ‘Dune 3’. With a time jump likely, the film may also feature Jason Momoa’s return, as casting rumours—including Robert Pattinson as Scytale—build up.

Denis Villeneuve, known for his meticulous planning when it comes to casting, appears to have finalised two key roles for his upcoming film ‘Dune: Messiah’, the third installment in his adaptation of Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi saga. Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke have been cast as Paul Atreides’ children, Leto II and Ghanima.

The twins were introduced as newborns near the end of Herbert’s novel ‘Dune: Messiah’, but it was in Children of Dune that their characters were fully explored. Both Leto and Ghanima are "pre-born", meaning they possess genetic memory and prescient abilities from birth — a trait that marks them as central figures in the evolving political and mystical landscape of the Duniverse.

The casting of Nakoa-Wolf Momoa — the son of Jason Momoa — has drawn particular attention, especially with speculation that Jason may return in the upcoming film as Duncan Idaho, a character who is resurrected in the source material. If true, the project could see the real-life father and son share screen time for the first time.

Villeneuve seems poised to advance the timeline beyond where ‘Dune: Part Two’ ended, continuing his trend of compressing events from Herbert’s sprawling narrative. With the new actors clearly not portraying infants, it suggests that the story will leap forward to delve into the children's more active roles in the unfolding saga.

Casting Buzz Builds as Fans Await ‘Dune 3’ Updates

While no official title or release date for ‘Dune 3’ has been confirmed, casting news continues to surface. Back in April, it was reported that Robert Pattinson was being considered for the role of the shapeshifting antagonist Scytale. Though Warner Bros. has not provided updates on other returning cast members, fans can likely expect the return of Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem, Anya Taylor-Joy, and other stars from previous instalments.

Until further announcements are made, audiences can only wait as Villeneuve prepares to once again bring his visionary take on the world of Arrakis to the big screen.
