Johnny Knoxville has confirmed that a new 'Jackass' movie is heading to theatres this summer.

The 'Jackass' franchise first began as an MTV series in 2000, quickly gaining attention for its outrageous and dangerous stunts performed by Knoxville, Steve-O, Bam Margera, and the rest of the crew. The show's success led to a run of big-screen releases, starting in 2002. To date, four films have been released, with 'Jackass Forever' hitting theatres in 2022.

'Jackass' is Returning

Knoxville recently shared the news on social media, announcing that the franchise is returning to cinemas later this year. He said the team wanted fans to hear the news directly from them and confirmed the release date is 26th June. While he did not reveal many details about the project, he made it clear that 'Jackass' is officially back.

Although his post did not specify whether the release was a brand-new film or a rerelease, it has since been confirmed that the project is 'Jackass 5.' The movie will be released by Paramount Pictures, though the official title has not yet been announced. It is also unclear which cast members will return alongside Knoxville. The previous film featured Steve-O as well as newer cast members Eric Manaka, Zach Holmes, Rachel Wolfson, and Sean "Poopies" McInerney.

Bam Margera is not expected to be involved. He was removed from the 2022 film after reportedly violating his contract due to substance abuse issues, and he later stated that he has no interest in returning to the franchise.

The announcement comes after Knoxville previously shared plans to step back from major stunts following serious injuries sustained during the filming of 'Jackass Forever.' He suffered a brain haemorrhage after being hit by a bull, leading him to reconsider performing high-risk stunts in the future.

Despite those concerns, 'Jackass' fans can now look forward to the franchise's return to the big screen this summer.
