Nova Twins have released a powerful new cover of Doechii’s track ‘Anxiety’, offering a gritty rock reinterpretation as part of the Spotify Singles series. The London-based duo, Amy Love and Georgia South, explained that they chose the song because of its transformative nature and the challenge it presented, noting that Doechii’s creativity was a driving inspiration.

In a joint statement, they said that Doechii’s visionary style and willingness to push artistic boundaries stood out to them. They described ‘Anxiety’ as a track that had already been reinvented once, making their own spin on it even more compelling and outside their usual comfort zone.

In addition to the cover, the duo also unveiled a new version of their own track ‘Piranha’, which will appear on their upcoming third album ‘Parasites & Butterflies’, due out on 29 August via Marshall. The full Spotify Singles session is now available for streaming.

Originally released on YouTube in 2019, ‘Anxiety’ features a sample from Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ and gained viral traction earlier this year. A re-recorded version, released in March, climbed to Number Nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at Number Three in the UK—marking Doechii’s breakthrough into both charts’ top tiers.

Both Nova Twins and Doechii are set to perform at Glastonbury 2025. Doechii is lined up to headline the West Holts stage on Saturday night (28 June), while Nova Twins will appear earlier that afternoon at the Woodsies stage.

Ahead of their album release, Nova Twins have already shared the singles ‘Monsters’ and ‘Soprano’. They also performed a live cover of Charli XCX and Billie Eilish’s track ‘Guess’ at BBC’s Maida Vale Studios last month.

Later this year, they will embark on a European and UK tour, and are also confirmed to support Biffy Clyro at two major shows at the Eden Sessions in Cornwall in July.

Nova Twins Tease Bold, Genre-Blending Sound on ‘Parasites & Butterflies’

Looking ahead to the album, Georgia South described it as a “chaotic but beautiful” body of work, promising a journey full of contrast and honesty. Amy Love added that they focused on following their instincts during the creative process, embracing whatever directions felt the most thrilling.

‘Parasites & Butterflies’ will serve as the follow-up to their Mercury Prize-nominated 2022 album, ‘Supernova’.
