Paris Jackson has addressed backlash from some fans of her late father, Michael Jackson, after revealing she is set to perform on the 16th anniversary of his passing. The singer and musician is scheduled to support Incubus on their upcoming ‘Morning View’ tour, which begins in Nashville on 25 June — the same date her father passed away in 2009.
In a message posted to her Instagram Stories on 13th June, Paris acknowledged the backlash she’d received, saying that people were “mad again” over her decision to appear on that particular date. She explained that she doesn’t control the schedule when she’s an opening act on a tour.
She said that since she’s not headlining the shows with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra, she doesn’t have a say in the tour’s dates, performance times, or locations. Paris noted that declining the opportunity due to the anniversary wouldn’t be practical, pointing out that the band had extended her a generous offer by including her on the tour. She questioned the expectation, asking rhetorically whether she was supposed to tell them, “Sorry guys, we can’t perform on this date?” before adding a sharp “F*** you” in response to critics.

Michael Jackson died on 25 June 2009 due to acute intoxication from propofol and benzodiazepines, leading to respiratory failure. His physician, Conrad Murray, was later found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for administering the fatal dose.
Paris has previously joined Incubus on stage, including a performance at The O2 in London earlier this year during the celebration of the 20th anniversary of their album ‘Morning View’.
Paris Jackson on Sobriety and Her Evolving Music Career
In addition to her work as an actor and model, Paris has steadily built a music career since releasing her debut solo album ‘Wilted’ in 2020. Earlier this year, she celebrated five years of sobriety by posting a video in which she reflected on her struggle with addiction. She also spoke about her upcoming music, describing the themes in her lyrics as deeply personal and potentially “hard for some people to hear”.
