Kanye West Says He's Been Dreaming of Apologising to Jay-Z

Kanye West said he’s been dreaming of apologising to Jay-Z, following backlash over past offensive remarks about Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s children. Amid ongoing controversies and a possible name change to Ye Ye, he appears to be seeking reconciliation.

Kanye West has said that he’s been dreaming about offering an apology to Jay-Z, his long-time collaborator and former mentor. The rapper, who now goes by Ye, made this claim in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that all his dreams recently had revolved around making amends with Jay-Z.

This isn’t the first time West has referenced a desire to apologise. Back in April, he posted a message on social media addressed to Jay-Z, saying he felt remorse over a past tweet. The apology appeared to relate to earlier inflammatory remarks, in which he had publicly questioned the mental abilities of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s youngest children and made unsubstantiated claims about their conception through IVF.

Although the initial post was deleted, West later re-uploaded it and clarified that his decision to remove it had not been an attempt to appear morally upright. His comments drew strong backlash online and within the industry.

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother, appeared to respond indirectly on Instagram, writing that it was difficult to remain “positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil,” and that her faith assured her that her family would not be harmed. Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, condemned West’s behaviour in a comment to TMZ, stating that “people pay a price for being stupid, especially in the music industry,” and expressing hope that Ye would seek mental health support.

West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian was also reportedly upset by the posts. According to a Page Six source, the reality TV star was “appalled” and felt she could no longer have reasonable communication with him.

In the midst of this, it emerged that Ye had filed legal documents under a new name — Ye Ye — potentially indicating yet another name change.

Though neither Jay-Z nor Beyoncé have responded publicly, there were reports that the couple had considered taking legal action following the remarks about their children.

Ye Courts Controversy While Hinting at Reconciliation

Ye has continued to stir controversy on social media this year. He withdrew his previous apology to the Jewish community over past anti-Semitic remarks and posted several inflammatory statements, including declaring himself “a Nazi” and expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler. He also praised Elon Musk as “the most lit person that [has] ever been on Twitter,” following accusations that Musk had made a Nazi salute at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Despite the backlash and ongoing criticism, Ye appears to be seeking reconciliation — at least in his own mind — as he continues to reflect publicly on his fractured relationships within the industry.
