Paul Rudd recently had the chance to work alongside someone he has long admired: Jack Black.
In the upcoming film 'Anaconda,' Rudd and Black play aspiring filmmakers who travel to the Amazon in hopes of rebooting the 1997 creature movie that originally starred Ice Cube, Jennifer Lopez and Jon Voight.
Paul Rudd on Working With Jack Black
Paul Rudd, 56, shared that every so often in his career, he gets the opportunity to collaborate with someone he truly looks up to, and this project was one of those moments. He joked that it came in the form of Jack Black, whom he clearly holds in high regard. Rudd also praised their fellow cast members, Steve Zahn and Thandiwe Newton, noting that it’s really the people on a project who make the experience special.

Jack Black, also 56, agreed and said the film felt especially personal. Since the characters are filmmakers chasing their dreams, he felt like they were playing versions of themselves. He explained that this lighter, more comedic take on 'Anaconda' is about friends going after what they love, which mirrors how he feels every time he sets out to make a movie.
Other Paul Rudd And Jack Black Collaboration
Although Rudd and Black have crossed paths before in projects like 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' and 'Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,' 'Anaconda' marks the first time they've shared major screen time together. Rudd said it was the first time he truly got to watch Black up close at work and described how people of all ages, especially kids, are drawn to him. He added that Black treats everyone with genuine kindness and makes each interaction feel special, which he found incredibly inspiring.

At the Los Angeles premiere of 'Anaconda,' Paul Rudd continued to sing Black's praises, calling him a genius and highlighting his performance in School of Rock as one of the most impressive and unforgettable comedy roles ever. According to Rudd, it's a performance only Jack Black could deliver, and one of several standout roles in his career.
'Anaconda' arrives in theatres on 25th December.
