After celebrating two decades of marriage earlier this year, Peter Dinklage is opening up about the one word that has kept his relationship with wife Erica Schmidt strong. Speaking at a special screening of his new film 'Roofman' in New York City, the 56-year-old actor explained that patience has been the foundation of their bond since they eloped in Las Vegas back in April 2005.

The couple, who chose to wed spontaneously while Peter Dinklage was in town for a charity event, marked the beginning of a partnership that has now lasted more than 20 years. Over the years, they have welcomed two children together, a daughter in 2011 and a second child in 2017, while choosing to keep their family life private by not publicly revealing their children’s names.

More About 'Roofman'

At the 'Roofman' screening, Dinklage reflected not only on his marriage but also on the unique filming experience. Much of the movie takes place inside a renovated, long-abandoned Toys “R” Us store. For cast members who are also parents, including Peter Dinklage, Channing Tatum, and Kirsten Dunst, the set became a treasure trove. When production wrapped, the actors were able to take home toys for their children, making the experience even more memorable.

What is 'Roofman' About?

'Roofman,' directed by Craig Zobel, is based on the unbelievable true story of Jeffrey Manchester, played by Tatum. Once an Army Ranger, Manchester shifted to a life of crime, breaking into McDonald’s locations by slicing through their rooftops—a bold tactic that earned him the nickname "Roofman."

After breaking out of prison, he hid away inside a Toys "R" Us for six months, living in secret—until his carefully concealed life started to unravel when he fell for Leigh, a single mother portrayed by Dunst. Peter Dinklage stars as the store’s manager, adding another layer of humour and humanity to the tense, suspenseful narrative.

The film premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where Peter Dinklage praised his co-stars, describing Tatum and Dunst as incredibly talented and fully immersed in their roles. He added that working alongside them was a dream fulfilled, noting the project’s grassroots energy and the cast's genuine enthusiasm throughout production.

'Roofman' hits theatres on 10th October, blending crime, comedy, and romance in one of the year’s most anticipated true-story adaptations.
