Sabrina Carpenter had a funny realisation while getting ready to share the stage with Taylor Swift.
In episode four of Swift's Disney+ docuseries 'The End of an Era,' the two pop stars are shown rehearsing a special mash-up performance at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in October 2024. The performance blended Carpenter's hits 'Espresso' and 'Please Please Please' with Swift's 'Is It Over Now?' from '1989 (Taylor’s Version)'.
Sabrina Carpenter On Taylor Swift's Mashup Performance
Backstage before the show, Carpenter admitted it took her a while to understand why Swift chose that particular song for the mash-up. She explained that when Swift first sent her the idea, she didn't immediately realise how perfectly the takeout coffee lyric matched the theme and vibe of 'Espresso.' The connection only clicked for her later while she was in the car on the way to rehearsals, and that's when she realised just how clever the idea was. She joked that it took her a full day to catch on.

Taylor Swift laughed it off and pointed out how wild it was that the songs not only fit thematically but also shared the same rhythm and key.
Taylor Swift Talks About Sabrina Carpenter

She also praised Carpenter's huge success over the summer, noting how impressive it was to watch her compete with herself for the top spot on the charts. Swift added that it's especially meaningful when artists like Carpenter return to collaborate and share their creativity.
