'Shrek 5' Adds SNL's Marcello Hernández and Skyler Gisondo

Marcello Hernández and Skyler Gisondo have officially joined the cast of 'Shrek 5,' voicing Fergus and Farkle, the sons of Shrek and Princess Fiona. The animated sequel continues to expand its legacy by adding fresh talent alongside its original stars.

The upcoming film will bring back Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Fiona and Eddie Murphy as Donkey. They will be joined by Zendaya, who is set to voice Felicia, the third child of Shrek and Fiona. The three ogre children, Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, are triplets who were previously introduced as babies in 'Shrek Forever After.'

'Shrek 5' New Cast Members

Marcello Hernández has become one of the breakout stars of 'Saturday Night Live', gaining popularity through his viral character Domingo and his wide range of comedic sketches and impressions. His casting adds a new wave of humour and energy to the long-running franchise.

Skyler Gisondo, known for roles in 'Superman,' 'Booksmart,' 'Santa Clarita Diet,' 'The Righteous Gemstones,' and 'Licorice Pizza,' brings experience from both comedy and action projects. His recent portrayal of Jimmy Olsen in the DC reboot helped boost his visibility ahead of his involvement in 'Shrek 5.'

'Shrek 5' Production

The film will be directed by long-time Shrek collaborators Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, along with Brad Ableson, known for his work on 'Minions: The Rise of Gru' and 'The Simpsons.'

The Shrek franchise first launched in 2001 and made history by winning the first-ever Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Since then, the series has expanded into multiple sequels, spin-offs like 'Puss in Boots' and 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,' stage musicals, live shows and global theme park attractions, generating nearly 3 billion dollars worldwide.

The previous instalment, 'Shrek Forever After,' was released in 2010 and wrapped up with Shrek rediscovering his love for family life after an alternate reality adventure.

'Shrek 5' is currently scheduled to release in theatres on 30th June 2027.
