With just a few months to go before 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' hits theatres, a possible plot leak has fans buzzing.
The upcoming Nintendo and Illumination adventure takes Mario and friends far beyond the Mushroom Kingdom. This time, Bowser Jr., voiced by Benny Safdie, sets out on a mission to rescue his father, Bowser, once again played by Jack Black. Mario, voiced by Chris Pratt, is joined by familiar allies as the universe expands into new cosmic territory inspired by the 2007 game 'Super Mario Galaxy.'
Returning cast members include Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach and Charlie Day as Luigi. New faces are also entering the mix, including Princess Rosalina, voiced by Brie Larson. Trailers have already teased new worlds, creatures, and the return of fan favourites like Yoshi.

'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' Plot Leak
However, a now-removed film description may have revealed a major surprise. According to Polygon, UK theatre chain Everyman Cinemas briefly posted a description suggesting Bowser Jr. teams up with Wario in an evil alliance aimed at world domination. The summary claimed that after defeating Bowser and saving Brooklyn, Mario must face Wario and Bowser Jr. together, forcing him and his friends to stop their plan to take over the world.
If true, this would mark Wario's big-screen debut. The character, who first appeared in the 1992 Game Boy title 'Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins,' is known as Mario's greedy, mischievous rival. Dressed in yellow and purple with a bold W on his hat, Wario has bounced between villain and anti-hero over the years. He has also starred in his own spinoff series, like 'Wario Land,' and appeared in franchises such as 'Super Smash Bros.'

Wario's casting has not been confirmed, but back in 2023, Jack Black floated a fun idea during an interview. He suggested that if an even bigger villain showed up, Bowser might have to join forces with Mario to stop them, and he enthusiastically pitched Pedro Pascal as the perfect voice for Wario.
For now, Wario's involvement remains unconfirmed, and the leaked description has been removed. Still, with the movie set to arrive on 1st April 2026, speculation is only growing about which iconic characters might finally make their leap to the big screen.
