Tom Holland has finally returned to the sets of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' the fourth installment in the MCU's Spider-Man storyline, after great anticipation. The official start of production is confirmed by set photos. But beyond Holland's return in a redesigned Spider‑Man suit, a bigger surprise is drawing attention: leaked images and social media clues strongly hint that Mac Gargan, better known as 'Scorpion,' is making a dramatic return to the MCU after nearly eight years. With Holland’s new beginning and a resurrected antagonist, fans are curious about how the power dynamics in Peter Parker's universe will change.
Tom Holland's Recovery and Triumphant Return
Filming for 'Spider‑Man: Brand New Day' officially kicked off in August 2025, with Glasgow standing in as the backdrop for New York City. After a brief delay in production because of Holland's alleged mild concussion during a stunt practice, the actor has finally returned to the part.
On 10th October, several pictures started doing the rounds of the internet showing Tom rehearsing his web-slinging move. Dressed casually on the set, he deemed a lot better physically, giving a sigh of relief to his fans.

Although the incident didn't hamper much of the production, close sources attested that he prioritized his health first, and took a little break to recover before going back to work again. The actor is back to his best after a few months, picking up the web shooters once more. Holland is ready to lead Peter Parker into his next chapter, as evidenced by new set photographs.

Scorpion's Shocking Return After 8 Years
The return of Michael Mando as Mac Gargan, also known as 'Scorpion' in the franchise, who was last seen briefly in 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' (2017), is one of the biggest surprises from the latest production leaks. After eight years of absence, Mando teased his return on social media, few months' back, with a cryptic post of his scorpion tattoo and the word "Sting."
Leaked pictures, which depict him in a white uniform and in what appears to be a helicopter escape scene, support the rumours even more. In the comics, Gargan eventually forms a link with the Venom symbiote, and some fans think the MCU might take a similar dark turn.

His return isn't simply fan service. That might signal the beginning of a dangerous new villain arc. According to sources, Scorpion's return may result in new alliances or possibly set the stage for a future Sinister Six plot. In any case, Peter Parker's stakes are raised by Gargan's return, and 'Brand New Day' may end up being one of Spider-Man's most intimate conflicts to date.

Returning Faces and Emotional Arcs
In addition to Holland's comeback and Michael Mando's surprise appearance, Zendaya as Michael Jackson, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher are among the returning cast members of 'Brand New Day.' Sadie Sink and other newcomers have joined in unspecified roles, and Mark Ruffalo will play Bruce Banner.
Set images that have been leaked depict crucial scenes, including Peter and MJ at May Parker's grave, which may allude to memory retrieval or a new emotional arc. Other pictures show Spider-Man in mid-action, flipped NYC taxis, and extensive damage, all of which point to a fierce battle going on at ground level. The storyline picks up after 'No Way Home,' where everyone has forgotten Peter's identity, meaning this version of Spider-Man must operate alone, without the support system he once had—which may make him more vulnerable than ever before.
