The twins, Ella and Alexander, were born in 2017 to George Clooney and his wife, Amal. They purposefully selected a life away from the spotlight, in contrast to many famous families. In a recent interview, Clooney discussed his serious reservations about bringing up kids in Hollywood society and the reasons he moved the family overseas to try to protect them from the demands of celebrity.
"Never a Fair Shake"—Clooney's Reason to Leave L.A.
Clooney disclosed that his greatest concern was that his kids would never have a fair opportunity in life if they were brought up in the star-obsessed culture of Los Angeles. He stated, "I was concerned about raising our children in L.A., in the Hollywood lifestyle. I thought they would never be treated fairly in life."

He added that he didn't want them to be preoccupied with paparazzi or compared to "someone else's celebrity kids" all the time. Clooney also quipped that he would "be gumming my bread" by the time his kids act or perform in public since he is older, which would lessen the likelihood of similarities.
Life on a French Farm—The Choice for a Healthier Childhood
The Clooneys have moved to a French farm instead of the city, where they claim their kids enjoy more freedom, less screen time, and more responsibility. Clooney said that although he used to dislike growing up on a farm, he is now happy that his children are helping out around the house, eating supper with the family, and maintaining their grounding.
He compared the lack of concern for celebrity in French culture, saying, "France—they kind of don't give a s— about fame," stressing that kids shouldn’t be walking around nervous about cameras. By refusing to share their images online or allow the media to control their life, Amal Clooney also takes care to preserve their privacy. Clooney maintains that in order to teach the twins self-reliance, it's critical that they witness him performing daily duties like fixing items around the house and assisting with chores.

Future of Clooney's Parenting Philosophy
Clooney's choice makes it quite evident that fame is a burden rather than a benefit for kids. He shows his conviction that kids should forge their own paths rather than living in obscurity by relocating. His calculated approach also reflects the changing nature of celebrity parenting, as more celebrities call for their children to have privacy and normalcy.
Clooney wants to limit exposure and comparison, but the move may raise concerns that his kids will still enjoy affluence. It's unclear how the twins will decide to follow their own paths, but Clooney’s decisions make it obvious that he didn't want Hollywood to set their course.
