Machine Gun Kelly has opened up about why he chose not to audition for a role in 'Sinners', the Ryan Coogler-produced vampire thriller that became an unexpected box office hit. During a recent appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show', the rapper and actor shared that he walked away from the opportunity for a very personal reason.
Kelly revealed that he was originally considered for the role of a vampire in the film — specifically, the second vampire featured in a chilling scene involving a home invasion. While he was lined up for an audition, he ultimately declined because the script required the character to use a racial slur — something Machine Gun Kelly was not comfortable doing.

Though he’s missed out on several roles in the past, the artist highlighted 'Sinners' as one project he was notably close to joining. The role in question is believed to be Bert, a character who was portrayed as a KKK member-turned-vampire. Peter Dreimanis eventually took on the role.
'Sinners' stars Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and Miles Caton, and follows twin brothers who return to their hometown hoping to escape their troubled past, only to confront an ancient evil that has taken root there. The film was praised for its bold storytelling and became a surprise hit in theatres.
