Jamie Lee Curtis, Hollywood royalty and daughter of film legends Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, has revealed she’s preparing to step away from the spotlight after decades in the industry. At 66, the Oscar-winning actress shared that she has been quietly planning her exit for years, gradually easing into retirement to avoid the harsh career decline she witnessed her parents experience.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, Jamie Lee Curtis reflected on how the industry turned its back on her parents as they aged. Seeing their careers slowly decline was incredibly painful for her, leaving a mark that never quite faded. She explained that she’s been slowly retreating from the spotlight for over three decades, intentionally "self-retiring" to protect herself from a similar fate. Her goal is to step away on her terms, before she stops being invited to the party.

Despite preparing for retirement, Jamie Lee Curtis is staying busy with several exciting projects. She’s making a comeback in 'Freakier Friday', the sequel to the 2003 classic 'Freaky Friday'. Reprising her role as Tess Coleman alongside Lindsay Lohan, Curtis brings the beloved character back to life. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on 8th August, 2025.
Jamie Lee Curtis is also confirmed to star in the reboot of 'Murder, She Wrote', where she will portray Jessica Fletcher, a role made iconic by the late Angela Lansbury. In a recent interview, she expressed excitement about the project but shared that she's keeping her emotions in check until filming begins, as she’s still wrapping up other commitments.
