Carl Malamud is an American visionary, author and staunch advocate for the public domain. He is best known for founding ‘Public.Resource.Org’.

One of his notable contributions was the establishment of the Internet Multicasting Service, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the online world. During his tenure with this group, Malamud achieved several groundbreaking feats, including the development of the first-ever Internet radio station. This laid the foundation for the digital audio revolution that we enjoy today.
Beyond his technological endeavours, Malamud is a prolific author with eight books to his name, including titles like ‘Exploring the Internet’ and ‘A World’s Fair.’ A man of diverse talents, Malamud served as a visiting professor at the MIT Media Laboratory and chaired the Internet Software Consortium.

In 2009, Carl received the EFF Pioneer Award from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, recognizing his outstanding contributions as a public domain advocate.
