Xperience Sessions With Artist Haddaway
RJ Rohit had a chat with Haddaway, the iconic ‘90s sensation behind ‘What is love’. He spoke about his new track ‘Lift Your Head Up’ and more.
Nestor Alexander Haddaway, a Trinidadian-born German singer, gained fame with his 1993 smash hit single ‘What Is Love’ topping charts in 13 countries.
Despite its widespread recognition, Haddaway was notably absent from a 2008 Diet Pepsi MAX commercial aired during Super Bowl XLII, which humourously reimagined the song’s iconic melody and featured appearances from stars such as LL Cool J, Missy Elliott, and Busta Rhymes.
At the 1994 German Echo Awards, ‘What Is Love’ brought Haddaway two accolades: ‘Best National Single’ and ‘Best National Dance Single’. Directed by Volker Hannwacker, the music video for the song enjoyed extensive airplay on music channels like MTV Europe.
