Rohit caught up with Tobias Topic who is a Croatian-German DJ, producer, and
musician who goes by the mononym Topic. He spoke about his musical journey,
inspirations, dream collaborators and brand-new track ‘In Your Arms’.

Topic is of Croatian ancestry and was born in Solingen. He attended a Hessen secondary school. With the help of an instructor, he began producing music with Logic Studio, a digital audio workstation, at the age of 16. With the aid of YouTube musicians who contacted him, he began his musical career on social media.

Topic's first single, "Light It
Up," which is a house song was released at the end of 2014 and has
received over one million views on his YouTube channel. In the summer of 2015,
he released Miles, his debut album, which charted in both Germany and Austria.
Topic later charted in both countries with the song "Home," which
featured Nico Santos on vocals and was a certified platinum in Australia
and Germany. It was released
on January 2016. He attributes
his success to the internet, saying, "The
Internet has actually brought the world closer together."

Topic secured a record deal with Sony Music/ATV in September 2016 and released the track "Break My Habits" in January 2017. He partnered with American singer Ally Brooke on the single "Perfect" on January 26, 2018. Brooke's presence on the television show Wild 'n Out brought attention to the popularity of airplay in the United States. They were nominated for a Teen Choice Award in the "Electronic / Dance Song" category for the song.

In
April 2018, he released his debut Spanish-language single, "Sólo
Contigo," which he wrote in collaboration with Juan Magán and German
singer Lena Meyer-Landrut. ‘Breaking Me’ was released as the sixth single of
2019 on December 19th. It's a collaboration with Swedish artist A7S, and it's
Topic's first chart triumph in two years. In Germany, the Netherlands, Austria,
Switzerland, Canada, Australia, and Ireland, the single entered the top ten.
Topic also made his first appearance on the British singles charts with ‘Breaking
Me,’ as well as his first number one on the Portuguese singles chart. He ruled
the Dance charts in the United States for three weeks. In October 2020, the
song had 500 million Spotify streams and over 1 billion total streams
altogether.

The
single ‘Why Do You Lie to Me’ was released on August 28, 2020. Topic and A7S
collaborated for the second time, this time with American rapper Lil Baby.

Topic
teamed up with ATB, the German producer, to remake the latter’s number one hit
"9 PM (Till I Come)" in 2021. The song was originally released in the
1990s and was renamed "Your Love (9PM)" and was released on Positiva
Records. It also featured A7S making it their third collaboration. The song charted
in several countries, including Germany and the UK Official Charts Company's
Top 75 singles chart (reaching the number 42 position on 5 February 2021).
