Adrien Brody Expresses Love for Georgina Chapman and Her Kids in Heartfelt Second Oscar Acceptance Speech

Adrien Brody won his second Oscar at the 2025 Academy Awards, this time for Best Actor.  ‘The Brutalist’ star accepted the award from Cillian Murphy, the previous year’s winner, who was honoured for his performance in ‘Oppenheimer’, during the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

As he looked back on his career, Brody conveyed his sincere appreciation for the support and acknowledgement he had received.  He admitted that the acting industry can be erratic, with a beautiful exterior belying a lot of uncertainty.  He highlighted the significance of being able to continue doing what he loves when he returned to the Oscars as a winner after more than 20 years.

Brody also expressed his sincere gratitude to his crew and the filmmakers of ‘The Brutalist’, notably writer-producer Mona Fastvold and writer-director Brady Corbet.  He dedicated the award to Georgina Chapman, his partner, for helping him rediscover his principles and feeling of self-worth.  He also acknowledged her kids, Dash and India, saying that he was grateful to be a part of their lives and jokingly telling them that “Popsie’s coming home a winner.”

After wins at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and BAFTAs, this victory further solidified Brody’s supremacy this awards season.  He plays a Hungarian architect and immigrant who fled to the US following the Holocaust in ‘The Brutalist’.

Brody defeated a strong field of candidates, which included Sebastian Stan for ‘The Apprentice’, Ralph Fiennes for ‘Conclave’, Colman Domingo for ‘Sing Sing’, and Timothée Chalamet for ‘A Complete Unknown’.  Chalamet, who was nominated for an Oscar for ‘Call Me by Your Name’, was a big star this year, playing Bob Dylan in the 1960s folk movement in ‘A Complete Unknown’ and ‘Dune: Part Two’, two Best Picture contenders.

Domingo’s performance in ‘Sing Sing’, a movie based on the actual prison theatre program ‘Rehabilitation Through the Arts’, earned him his second consecutive Best Actor nod, after ‘Rustin’ last year.  Fiennes, a three-time Oscar candidate, received praise for his role in Edward Berger’s drama ‘Conclave’, which was set in the Vatican.  Stan had a successful awards season. He was nominated for the BAFTAs, Spirit Awards, and Oscars for his portrayal of Donald Trump in the biopic ‘The Apprentice’, and he was praised for ‘A Different Man’.
