10 Things Every Hardcore Pete Wentz Fan Needs to Know
For starters, if you don’t know the American Rock band, ‘Fall Out Boy’, then shame on you. Just kidding. Though the band debuted in 2001, you may not have known a single thing about them until their breakthrough hit, ‘Thnks Fr Th Mmrs’ shook the world. The band’s known for their bizarre concepts and slightly sinister-sensual lyrics, as seen in ‘Centuries’, ‘My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark’, ‘Alone Together’, you get the point, one look at those titles and you understand what we’re getting at. Anyway, enough of the history lesson, or this could turn into a whole essay. So, the band’s bassist and heartthrob, Pete Wentz has been stealing headlines for a rather odd reason – people just realized that he was biracial, particularly speaking – he has Jamaican heritage. The conversation sparked after Fall Out Boy shared a statement on the Black Lives Matter movement following the passing of George Floyd. Wentz pointed out that despite being biracial, he’s been white-washed by the media throughout his career. And due to that, a lot of fans didn’t even know this about the star. So, we decided to help fix this, as much as possible.
So, if you’re a hardcore Pete Wentz fan and don’t know these facts about Pete Wentz, well, you’ve got a lot of homework to do.
2. Ahh the good ol’ eyeliner, all-black days, those were simpler times. Pete Wentz was primarily involved in the Chicago hardcore Punk scene and was in several bands in the late 1990s. He formed his first band in 1993, which funnily enough was called, First Born. By the mid-1990s, he became an infrequent bass player for yet another band, with an even wilder name. Drumroll please…it was called, ‘Racetraitor’. Wentz formed yet another band before finally hopping aboard Fall Out Boy.

3. Pete Wentz studied political science. Nope, this ain’t a joke. He initially thought of becoming a lawyer, but of course, that didn’t happen. What did happen though, was that he wrote a song called, ‘I’m Like A Lawyer With the Way I’m Always Trying To Get You Off.’ Wild, huh?

4. Pete’s guilty pleasure or rather his, “one true addiction” is…believe it or not, collecting art. His walls feature works by former street artists. Yes, that includes this odd painting of ‘Spongebob’.

5. Speaking of addictions, well this one’s a lot milder so let’s just call it a hobby – Pete’s the kind of guy who’s super into creating the perfect organic garden. Complete with homegrown vegetables, herbs and teeny tiny potted plants.

6. Okay, we’ll forgive you for not knowing this about him, but he absolutely loathes nuts and he sort of had a breakdown when he realized that none of his other Fall Out Boy bandmates shared his opinion. “I found out from [FOB drummer] Andy Hurley that other people in the world would actively choose to put pine nuts into something like hummus,” he once said. “Whereas to me, that shit is disgusting, and I thought everybody felt that way. And it activated all these other anxieties inside of me. Like, ‘Well shit, is the sky the colour that I think it is?!’”
