BTS Make History; Score First Ever Grammy Nomination

BTS have made it to the history books once again! The victory they’ve inked in this time, follows their Grammy nomination in one of the mammoth categories, making them the only K-Pop group to achieve this feat. The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards recently launched a countdown till the big reveal and their now that the full nominee list is out, it’s been met with both exuberance and a sigh of relief from ARMY and BTS alike.

Late August witnessed the release of the band’s debut All-English track, ‘Dynamite‘. And not long after, it soared atop the Billboard Hot 100 charts, earning the boys their first No. 1 claim. Now, this very track has brought home a new victory: a nod for the best pop duo/group performance.

BTS took to social media to share their excitement over the news. The first clip they posted was a brief video featuring Jungkook, V, Jimin and RM all squashed together on a couch, eyes glued to a screen. The minute they’re met with the big reveal, the boys are seen catapulting out of their seats in joy, or in V’s case, stricken rather numb with the news. The hilarious caption accompanying this clip featured well, just a keyboard smash of gibberish – hands down the most apt reaction to scoring a Grammy nomination.

BTS followed this up with yet another heartwarming tweet. Their sweet little message read, “Thank you to everyone who listened to and sympathized with our music during the difficult times. Above all, it is ARMYs who made the miracle of being a Grammy candidate. I always appreciate and love you. Thank you @RecordingAcad for this great honor!”

Apart from BTS, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat and a string of other big names have also scored nominations. The 63rd Grammy Awards will take place on January 31st, 2021.
