T-Swizzle is Back on Track!

Good news for all the Swifties out there! Taylor Swift, who has been vocal about her ongoing feud with the record label Big Machine Records, will be able to perform her own songs at the AMAs. The singer, who signed a contract with Big Machine Records at the age of 14 and later moved to the Universal Music Group, shared a screenshot on twitter saying, “don’t know what else to do”.

Swift shared a heartbreaking message informing fans that she won’t be able to perform her hit songs, after Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta stripped her of her legal right to re-record her discography, spanning two long decades. However Big Machine Records clarified, “recording artists do not need label approval for live performances on television or live media,” and also added “record label approval is only needed for contracted artists’ audio and visual recordings and in determining how those works are distributed.”

Big Machine Records denied all allegations wholly with the statement “Taylor, the narrative you have created does not exist. All we ask is to have a direct and honest conversation.” The justification made by Big Machine Records put Taylor in an “awkward situation”. However the ‘Lover’ singer was rallied around by support from all her female counterparts like Selena Gomez, her fans and those trending the hashtag #ISTANDTAYLOR.

The announcement was met with bittersweet joy – happiness at Taylor’s win in this fight, but sadness that there was ever a fight to begin with. As emphasized in her statement, “these two men had no hand in creating this music.” The support received by the singer is only proof of her legacy and influence in the industry; after all she will be receiving the ‘Artist of the Decade’ Award at the upcoming American Music Awards. We juts hope there won’t be any Bad Blood anymore.
