Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd: Co-Parenting Done Right After Divorce

Maren Morris is showing the world that exes don’t have to be bitter after a breakup. Following her divorce from fellow singer Ryan Hurd, she’s proving that two people can put aside their differences for the sake of their child. Morris recently opened up about her co-parenting arrangement with Hurd, and it’s clear that they’re both putting in the effort to be great parents to their son, Hayes Andrew.

Navigating single parenthood is never easy, but Morris seems to be handling it with grace. After five years of marriage, Morris and Hurd decided to go their separate ways last year, with Morris officially filing for divorce on 2nd October. Despite their split, the former couple remains committed to raising their son together.

Morris, who recently released a new EP titled ‘Intermission,’ shared insights into the inspiration behind some of her latest tracks. One song, in particular, ‘Because, Of Course,’ stands out as a heartfelt love letter to her son, Hayes. “It’s about him; it’s obviously my promise to him,” Morris explained. While the song could easily be mistaken for a romantic ballad, it was written as a testament to the unconditional love she has for her son.

The news of Morris and Hurd’s divorce took many by surprise, as the couple had always appeared deeply in love. While some of Morris’s songs have been inspired by Hurd, this one is dedicated solely to Hayes.

Morris understands that the separation could be confusing for a child as young as Hayes. “I think he’s gone through a lot, and there’s, I’m sure, a lot of confusion because he’s so little,” she admitted. However, she is confident that both she and Hurd are doing their best to provide a stable and loving environment for their son. “Ryan and I have done a really great job at just being great parents for him,” she said.

The singer also credits her son as being a source of strength during tough times. At just four years old, Hayes has been a constant anchor for Morris, helping her stay strong even when things get difficult. “I feel like there are so many emotions when you have a child with somebody and the relationship doesn’t pan out, and you just have to put on a brave face and a consistent face for your baby,” Morris shared.

One of the things that brings Morris joy is seeing Hayes light up when they’re on the road together. He loves travelling and being on tour with his mum, which makes those moments all the more special for the singer.
