Finneas Unveils Second Album ‘For Cryin’ Out Loud!’
Finneas has revealed details about his upcoming second album, ‘For Cryin’ Out Loud!’ The emotionally charged title track is available now.
Scheduled for release on 4th October through Polydor/Interscope Records, this will be the Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and producer’s first album since his acclaimed 2021 debut, ‘Optimist’.
The album, featuring 10 tracks, is a product of Finneas’ own production efforts and was created during a series of live studio sessions in Los Angeles with some of his closest friends and collaborators.
To mark the occasion, Finneas has released the title track as the lead single. In the song, he explores the turmoil of a relationship ending while still grappling with the urge to hold on. The introspective opening lines reflect on this emotional struggle: “Maybe it’s me, or maybe it’s you/ maybe I never learned my lesson/someone to seek, someone to soothe/ someone to answer all your questions.”
“I don’t know what to tell you/ maybe I Never knew/ not tryna make you jealous, but it looks so good on you.”
The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Isaac Ravishankara, which features Finneas contending with a series of dramatic and symbolic challenges—including falling down an elevator shaft, getting caught with a knife, and being hit by a car—all while grappling with a deteriorating relationship. Watch it above.
Regarding the album, the press release reveals that ‘For Cryin’ Out Loud!’ represents a departure from the sound of Finneas’ 2021 debut. The new project marks a move towards a more expansive and epic approach to songwriting.
The release notes that Finneas has broadened his creative scope with this album, shifting from a bedroom producer style to a more traditional studio and band setup. This evolution has led to what is described as his most uplifting and authentic work to date.
