Janelle Monae is one of our generation's most talented, empowering and outspoken artists. The singer and actress is also a style icon, whose many outfits have taken inspiration from the androgynous styles of David Bowie and Prince.
She started her music career by introducing herself as some kind of pop android wearing fancy spacesuits. Her first album "Metropolis" gained a lot of critical acclaim and Monae became a resident name in pop and R&B. She is credited for bringing Afrofuturism and science into both the genres.
